Jarvis Parsons
Jarvis Parsons has served as the Brazos County District Attorney since January 2013. Currently in his fourth term, he joined the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office in 2002 after earning his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 2001 and completing a yearlong judicial clerkship. Over his distinguished 23-year career with the office, he has prosecuted a wide range of serious offenses—including theft, robbery, and murder—and has sought the death penalty for the most heinous offenders.

His leadership has been recognized with numerous statewide and local accolades, including the Texas State Bar Prosecutor of the Year Award, the Jefferson Award, and the Texas District and County Attorney Association (TDCAA) C. Chris Marshall Award for Training and Ethics.
Dedicated to public service both locally and across the state, Parsons is a past President and Chairman of the Board for the TDCAA and was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Forensic Science Commission, the Governor’s Sexual Assault Survivor Task Force, and the Family Violence Homicide Task Force. At home in Brazos County, he serves on the governing board of Scotty’s House Child Advocacy Center.
Known for his innovative community engagement, Parsons established the Brazos County Citizen’s Prosecutor Academy and the “D.A. in a Day” program to provide the public with an inside look at the justice system, and introduced the “Cut It Out” program to help local hairstylists recognize and safely respond to signs of domestic violence.
Above all his professional achievements, Jarvis is devoted to his family. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Amiee, for 24 years, and they are the proud parents of their daughter, Erin.
Responsibilities and Services
The Brazos County District Attorney’s Office represents the State of Texas in the District Courts of Brazos County. The duties of the office include:
- Prosecuting felony crimes in the trial court and on appeal
- Prosecuting juvenile offenses for offenders between the age of 10 and 17
- Prosecuting misdemeanor offenses when such offenses are committed by a defendant with felony charges
- Providing victim services to the people that suffer from crime
- Representing Child Protective Services for cases of abuse and neglect
